RISHIKESH 12th & 13th

Rishikesh is 25 Km. from Haridwar on the banks of River Ganges. The hotel right on the banks of the rivers was superb. One could sit on the balcony and simply watch the river flow and all the other activities that goes on in the river. Lots of Europeans here, for tracking, meditating, yoga practises or just smoking pot. Lots of yoga schools here. Apparently the place is referred to as the Yoga capital of the world. Lots of temples and ashrams here in Rishikesh. They provide cheap and clean accommodation. Taking part in Parmard ashram was an aspiring experience. Very quite, very charged but relaxed atmosphere. Very different to Haridwar.
River rafting is also very popular and fun. The river here is fast and ferocious specially after the rains. 9 Km. of rafting coming down from the mountains with lots of rapids and fast flow is good fun.
Neelkanth temple about 35Km. further up the mountain is OK for the drive and the scenery but not worth if you are pressed for time.

  1. Much better with pictures of you guys dad!! It's good to see you're all looking so well. The river rafting looks fun - we didn't even know about it when we were in Rishikesh. It's funny because I have pictures of me in the exact same spots as you guys! One thing about the blog - you shouldn't write 2 posts in one day or else people will miss the 1st one - it's ok to write one long post (people will enjoy it!) Hopefully you'll be able to write more often now your out of the sticks!!!
Love you all and missing you immensely!

  5. It's so fun to read your blog and see many similar pictures to what Seet and I experienced. I'm sure knowing a little more about the culture, traditions, and rituals makes your experience different from ours. Sounds like you are having a great time so far. I am very jealous but excited to see what you experience along the way. Stefaan sends his best too. And just so you know we both still have our bracelets on from Raksha Bandhan. They haven't fallen off and everyday when we see them, we remember our Indian family. Love and miss you guys!
